The Continental Divide Trail

The Continental Divide Trail or CDT is a national scenic trail system along a north south axis that runs along the 3,100 miles of the ridge of the Continental Divide of North America, from Canada to Mexico. If you want to see some of the most pristine and beautiful mountainous wonders of the world this is the trail system to explore. It is one of the trail systems that make up The Triple Crown.

The Continental Divide Scenic Trail was given its designation by Congress in 1978. Because of its youthful status there is still work to be done. At this time it is estimated that the path of the CDT is 76% complete and in its permanently established route. Part of the trail system’s route through Colorado is shared by the Colorado Trail.
