Heavy Backpacking

Heavy backpacking involves carrying a base weight of 30 lbs or greater. This is considered undesirable by many backpackers because by carrying so much weight leads to less miles traveled, less comfort and an increased risk of injury. “Camping” style backpackers may be less concerned with the miles they travel and more concerned with finding a nice place to camp, where the will spend down days, backpacking out when they are done camping.
