Scree

Scree is the loose rock and gravel that has been eroded or otherwise dislodged from the rock formations from which it originated. Because of weather as well as the change of seasons that bring snow and ice each year, these fragments of rock accumulate at the base of cliffs, mountains, crags and volcanoes as piles that eventually become talus deposits that are part of the terrain itself.
