Triple Crown

The Triple Crown or Triple Crown of Hiking is the successful completion of three well known and extensive thru-hiking trail systems: Pacific Crest Trail, Appalachian Trail and Continental Divide Trail.

The first hiker to complete The Triple Crown was Eric Ryback, who thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail first in 19869, Ryback went on to thru-hike the Continental Divide Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail.

The youngest hiker to have successfully completed it was Reed Gjonnes at age thirteen. In so doing, hikers such as Ryback and Gjonnes have walked a total distance of almost 8,000 miles; in which they must ambitiously hike a total vertical gain of more than one million feet.
