Waking Up From First Night on the Ground

After my first night on the ground I resupplied on some water from the third gate water cache got back on the trail again. Since many of my friends we’re going to be stopping at around mile 105, I was concerned that a 16 mile day would not be an option to my foot pain. I took breaks every 45 minutes from anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes to rest my foot. It was very frustrating for me having to go very slow and having everybody pass me, but I had no choice.

Finally Out of the Desert and Trees, Glorious Trees

After a long frustrating day of foot pain and many, many rest breaks, the trail finally left the desert and arrived in green bushes filled with lots of trees and eventually crossed paths with San Yasidro Creek! I was able to catch up with everyone in one of the nicest can’t spot so far white off the creek. I was able to hang my hammock off of two beautiful trees right above the small stream it was a beautiful place to camp.

Hammock Tragedy: To the Ground I Go

The hole that I had torn in my hammock a few nights ago had grown but it did not have enough tape to tape it properly. In the middle the night as I adjusted in my hammock, I felt the hole rip and ended up going to ground with my polycro and sleeping pad. It was such a shame given it was such an epic place to hang!
